ABER DABEI is a creative platform and laboratory for new performing art, experimenting with form and structure. With a cross-artistic approach we are examining the space where the physical sensing body, personal storytelling and societal structures meet
ABER DABEI was founded in 2015 by director Petra Berg.
Based in Denmark we work internationally and interculturally with artists from different disciplines: Theatre, dance and performance-art, music- and sound art and literature etc.
In ABER DABEI we open and examine new formats for the performing arts. Each production is a result of a close collaboration between the artistic team and are based upon thorough research and development processes.
We work with strong sensory based expressions, where the body, visuals, sound and text are combined on equal terms, and where the stage itself is rethought and redefined anew, from project to project.
Our work is often situated, not only in the theatre, but also in public spaces or private apartments, in pure virtual settings or as installations at galleries. The audience is therefore often able to interact with the finished pieces.
With ABER DABEI we are processing and unfolding contemporary existential questions and trends. The core elements are found in philosophic, fictional and political texts. Through interviews and research in documentary sources. In dialogue with new scientific research. In fiction and in reality.

Graduated from Nordisk Teaterskole, Lisbeth Sonne Andersen is founded in a physical and visual performance tradition and choreography. She has studied Dramaturgy at Aarhus University, and since supplemented with studies in Multimedia and Performance-art at Scenekunstens Udviklingscenter, Odsherred.LÆS MERE
Lisbeth Sonne Andersen works as both creating and performing artist. Often between genres and in collaboration with artist from other disciplines. This in an everlasting exploration of the boundaries of what theatre is, and what it could be, as phenomenon, as a space, as artform, and experience. Her work includes both performances for the stage, site specifics and performative concerts, video- & installation art and film.
Participates in ABER DABEI’s upcoming performance SØVNLØS (SLEEPLESS). At present she is furthermore engaged as solo-dancer in Hotel Pro Forma’s international production “OPERAtion: Orfeo” with the Danish re-premiere in 2021 (Musikuset/Aarhus, and Skuespilhuset/Kbh) and as a performer in Kassandra Productions: “The Soul Catcher” premiering and touring in 2020- 2021 (Bora Bora/Aarhus, Teater Momentum/Odense a.o.)
Kristian ByskovMulti-disciplinary visual artist and writer
Kristian Byskov’s work consists of a variety of expressions, that is derived from his key-interests, research and collective work. A reoccurring theme in his practice, is an examination of the human being as a being profoundly connected with our surrounding ecosystems. (LÆS MERE
In his work as an author, he explores how the written narrative is able to open the mind to different possible futures, where the normative boundaries are crossed or dissolved in order to open for the possibility for new kinds of relations. In this universe of Science Fiction Kristian often mixes other genres such as documentary, poetry, the absurd and surreal. From this work emerges that often is both experimental and innovative.

Kristian HverringComposer and sound artist
In his work Kristian Hverring examines, how we perceive sound and how it shapes our perception of the world. The perception-apparatus and its pattern-recognising filtration-processes perhaps intervene more than we know, and for Kristian it is a main focal point as an artist, to meet the listener in “artificial situations”. He is occupied on how the listening experience is influenced by other stimuli. This is reflected in pieces like “Ritual I-X”, “L U F T R U M” and particularly the video piece ”1+1=3 (30 Sekunder)”- a series of 30 Second duets between the artist and changing participants- the location and the circumstances surrounding the two performers working under the pressure of time, is as much a part of the work, as is the interaction that occurs between them.
Many of his works uses spatial sound formats, so called immersive sound, like surround sound, binaural 3D-sound and Ambisonics, that places the listener in the middle of the sound experience and gives the otherwise intangible vibrations, tactile physical characteristics.
Collaborates among others with ABER DABEI, Convoi Exeptionnel , LYT TIL KBH, The Navidsons, Naja Lee Jensen and Hotel Pro Forma. With the latter in 2017 he won a Reumert for the best performance with the performance NeoArctic.

Sonja Winckelmann ThomsenWriter, interaction designer og illustrator
Works within text, performance-art and Illustration, with interaction between people as her core-element. Graduated as Interaction-designer from Designskolen Kolding with a visual background. She worked as web-producer at Danmarks Radio until 2017, the last 7 years at the DRAMA department. Here she worked with series like “Borgen”, “Forbrydelsen” (“The Killing”), “Pagten” and others.LÆS MERE
The last 12 years she has worked within the genre of Sensory Theatre, mostly with the Aarhus based Wunderland and recently also with ABER DABEI and Vildskab. She writes lyrical texts and works with dramaturgy and timing in performance-art that has no script in the traditional sense. Her latest production, “Horse Inside Out” with Wunderland, could be experienced at AROS Public in Aarhus. With ABER DABEI she is engaged with “BLINK” and worked as an illustrator on HANNA ARENDT FRISE.
As a writer she has made several publications, and participated in anthologies. In 2019 she published “Jeg tegner i aften” (I’m drawing tonight) a documentation of her online project “Onsdagstegningen” (The Wednesday-drawing) which has been running for 7 years that consists of texts and illustrations. She has participated in a Graphic-novel collection and is to be debuting as a Science Fiction author in a collection of short-stories in march 2021.
